Diagnoses Treated

  • Birth asphyxia
  • Brain tumors (in conjunction with primary and oncology specialist)
  • Cerebral palsy & associated developmental disabilities
  • Children with multiple handicaps
  • Children with severe self-injury (in conjunction with primary and behavioral specialist)
  • Congenital anomalies of the brain (malformations)
  • Developmental delay & mental retardation
  • Disorders of tone (low or high), posturing and movement (such as Tourette syndrome)
  • Encephalopathy
  • Hypoxia-ischemic brain injury
  • Intracranial bleeding
  • Mitochondrial disorders with neurologic involvement (in conjunction with primary and
    mitochondrial specialist)
  • Moderate-severe traumatic brain injury including abusive head trauma
  • Neurocutaneous disorders (such as neurofibromatosis)

  • Neurologic complications of other pediatric diseases
  • Neurologic impairment that requires the infant or child to be ventilator-dependent
  • Neurologic palliative care for children with life-limiting medical & neurologic conditions
  • Neurologic sequelae of critical illness or infection
  • Neurologic symptom management
  • Secondary disorders of the autonomic (automatic) nervous system
  • Temperature control (thermoregulation)
  • Sweating (sudanomotor)
  • Autonomic “storms” (dysreflexia)
  • Severe intestinal dysmotility (intestinal pseudo-obstruction) (in conjunction with primary and gastroenterologist)
  • Second opinion consultation
  • Serotonin syndrome
  • Stroke



For children whose primary neurologist is out of state, I am happy to coordinate & implement their neurologic plan of care locally.

Diagnoses Not Currently Treated

  • Attention deficit disorder
  • Autism spectrum disorders (as primary diagnosis)
  • Fainting (syncope)
  • Headache or migraine (as primary diagnosis)
  • Learning disabilities
  • Muscular dystrophy (recommend the MDA clinic at Gillette Specialty Healthcare)
  • PANDAS (pediatric autoimmune neuropsychiatric disorders associated with streptococcal infections)
  • POTS (postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome)
  • 

At this time, I do not give therapeutic injections (Botox©, etc.)

Dr. Gilles can see your child in person at our office location on Sherman Street. For the convenience of her patients, she is also able to provide telemedicine follow-up visits in many cases.


Dr. Gilles is also available to participate in team conferences with your child’s school personnel or rehabilitation therapists either by phone or using telemedicine.
